Float Switches are small, electrical on/off switches that work by sensing the water level in your tank. A larger example can be found on your home's sump pump. As the water level in the sump rises, it switches on the pump, removing water from your home's drain tile. An aquarium sump pump does the opposite - it keeps the power running to the main pump - unless the water level rises too high, then it switches off, preventing a flood. I had a heck of a time finding a float switch. I eventually found one at www.grainger.com - they are pretty inexpensive, but you'll need to assemble and wire it yourself! |
