Skimmers perform an important role in the filtration process by
removing proteins and other wastes in the water. As with any piece of marine
equipment, there are several types, sizes, shapes, and of course, opinions.
After debating on what type of skimmer to
buy or make, I decided on a CPR Cyclone Bak
Pak for my tank. However, when we move, the new, larger tank will require a new
skimmer, for the Bak Pak is only designed for tanks of 60 gallons or less.
CPR now makes a new, revised model, as well as several larger models that can
handle tanks up to 1,000 gallons. I am going to consider these models, but of
course, I will look into making one of my own.
I am still looking over plans for a skimmer, and I am pretty positive I will go
with a venturi type skimmer. Look for more information to be posted here at a later
date. In the meantime, go to the Links Page for links to
some DIY plans!
