Your bicycle's seat receives the most "bad press" than any other part of the bike.  The complaint is always the same - it's not comfortable!!

Do you suffer from a case of seat rejection?  I used to... until I bought a new seat in the Spring of 2000.  No - I didn't buy a gel seat - I bought one of those in 1999.  Truth is, a gel seat or a gel pad will buy you about 20 minutes of comfort.  After that, you're right back to being uncomfortable.

The discomfort is a result of two different things - 1) the seat, and 2) body posture/positioning on the bike's frame.  We'll focus on the seat here.

Instead of writing a lot of information about why my new seat works... I'll give you a link to the manufacturer - Serfas.  I have had ZERO complaints this year due to numbness, stiffness in my lower back, and other discomforts associated with a long bike ride, thanks to my new RX Series seat!  Please note - I have heard from a few other cyclists that the seat didn't work.  I have to guess that it is a matter of positioning the seat at the proper angle, as well as finding the proper seating position while riding.  I had to make slight adjustments to the angle of the seat, as well as adjust the way I was sitting.  I still need to move around the seat a bit on a long ride, but that is to be expected.  Also, I do have a gel seat cover on my Serfas seat.  Whether or not it actually helps... who knows?  I like it, so there!!  :o)
